My V-Day Presents to Myself

Well, as usual, my dear hubby got me zilch for Valentine's Day. I totally expected that, so as usual, I got somethings for myself. Here are my splurges:

First, I bought this adorable print from Studio Mela. I am a big book nut and a huge advocate of reading to children, so this print is just perfect for me. I can't wait for it to get here!

The second indulgence I made was for a pedicure and manicure. It was the first time I had a pedicure and only the second time having a manicure. My sister, who is a pedicure addict, and I went together. I *knew* where we were going and what we were getting, I just didn't THINK about it. So, here were some of the first-timer's mistakes I made:
  1. I wore shoes and socks, not flip flops. After the manicure was done, I was given disposable flops, but they gave me two right feet so the one on the left was only on half my foot. I looked really strange!
  2. I wore jeans, which could not push up past the middle of my calves. For those who haven't had a manicure, the nail technician doing the pedicure uses lotion to massage your whole calf and foot.
  3. I did not shave my toes! (I am an ordinary woman and I know there are others out there who have a little hair to grow on your toes). I was so embarrassed when this very handsome man comes to do my pedicure and I have to plop these hairy digits out in front of him!
But, I got through it all and I love the results! My husband was thrilled with how sexy my hands and feet looked and wants me to go back regularly!

Hey, now you know what my face AND feet look like! Aren't you grossed out happy? I didn't get too close with the camera because, believe it or not, they look really old when photographed up close! Don't believe me? Try it on your own feet (not you twenty-somethings).

ANYWAY, did you do anything special for yourself for Valentine's Day? Was my husband the only one to stink at gifts?

I love that you decided to pamper yourself on Valentine's day! My husband and I were supposed to go out for a romantic dinner for two - then my son and his girlfriend decided to come to town so it turned into a family dinner out. That was even better.

That is so cool! Hubby didn't get me anything, either, but you have so inspired me for next year.
Congrats to the giveaway winners.

Aww! Not even a card hey? Oh well, he must be some kinda man if her thinks feet are sexy. I am totally not a foot person. I own my own salon and have taken numerous courses on pedi's but I CAN"T BRING MYSELF TO DO ONE!!!! Gag! But nails on the other hand (pardon the pun) are one of my fav things to do.

Good for you! We don't exchange gifts either, but that's OK with me. I'd rather have a pedi, too!

My husband and I were never into Valentine's Day, even when we were dating. He has a tradition of giving me chocolate on the 15th or 16th when it's all on sale. It still tastes good!

I love pedicures! But I hate when I've forgotten to shave my legs for a couple days...
While my husband and kids gave me my weight in chocolate, I didn't get any flowers. No biggie. But at the store today, they had pink roses for $3 so I got them!

Hi: I just saw your comment to Chris (above) on her site. I'm in Lexington, SC, and I've been to Saluda twice in the last year, both times to go to SunTrust Bank, of all things. Hope you will stop by my blog, too, sometime.
