Bucket List

Last year or so, there was a movie called The Bucket List, and it was about two dying men fulfilling their life long dreams before they kicked "the bucket." I watched it and cried of course, and it did hit home for me since I had lost my mom and my father was dying. He was too sick by then to start living his dreams and I was so sad for him.

Anyway, I was visiting Nikke's blog and saw her Bucket List on her sidebar. That got me thinking about it again, that I should make one. So, here are my top twenty things I want to do before I die, not in order of importance.
  1. Visit where I lived in Germany
  2. Take another cruise to Alaska
  3. Learn Spanish fluently
  4. Write a children's book
  5. See the Grand Canyon
  6. Walk a 1/2 marathon
  7. Take a picture worth framing
  8. See the Niagra Falls
  9. Take an overnight train ride with my kids
  10. Play in the rain with my kids
  11. Go hiking in the mountains with my kids
  12. Catch a big fish all by myself
  13. Lose 30 lbs (so I have the energy to stuff on the list)
  14. Get all the prints laying in my house framed and hung
  15. Take pictures of myself with my kids
  16. Start a garden
  17. Get my children's scrapbooks finished
  18. Take a trip, touring factories and cool museums designed for kids
  19. Finish the renovations on my house
  20. Learn to cook better than my mother-in-law
Wow, that was harder than I thought it was. I am glad I did it though, so I know what to start working on. I will NOT wait till my kids are grown, or my husband retired to start doing them. NO! My father kept saying he would do the traveling he wanted to do after he retired. Well, he never got to because death came before retirement. Do not wait to start really living!

Did I surprise you with any of those? Are any of them something you would like to do also? Do you have your own "Bucket List?" If so, I would love to read it, if you have shared it already.

P.S. Had to edit because I misspelled "bucket" in the post title!! I am pitiful (actually a good speller, need to edit better).

I don't really have a bucket list, but I do have a list of 1001 things to do in 101 days. I started in Oct., I think. I need to check it to see how I'm coming along.

I loved that movie too, even though I totally wasn't expecting too. Good job on your list! I need to do one too, but it just seems so daunting!

I really enjoyed that movie. I don't have a bucket list - but I enjoyed yours. I'll have to start thinking about making one.

Tee hee, too bad your list didn't include anything about your kids -- *laff* -- just teasin' -- how nice that you want to do so many things with them, and how wise to realize that NOW is the time to "start living" as you wish.

The "walk a 1/2 marathon" surprised me! As did the "catch a big fish"!

It was fun to read your list. Thanks for inspiring me to make my own "bucket list"!

Start a garden... I've been thinking about doing that! We would have to build planter boxes, though. Our yard is mostly sand and limestone. I would like to write a book about how I got here in this life and my 7 children and 4 miscarriages. About how faithful God is and His plans for us, but I am not a good writer.
